Shock: This Tesla Model S Has Clocked Over 400,000 Miles With Its Original Battery – Here’s How

Endurance and longevity are not words typically associated with modern vehicles, but a Tesla Model S 90D from Chesterfield, UK, is shattering that stereotype. This particular Model S, purchased back in 2016, has been steadily clocking miles as an airport taxi and has amassed a staggering 430,000 miles on its odometer. What’s even more impressive is that this all-electric sedan is still running on its original battery pack and electric motors.

A Journey to the Moon and Back

Paul Curzon, who owns and operates Eco Executive Travel, is the proud owner of this high-mileage Tesla. He recalls the days when there were only a handful of Teslas and Supercharger stations in the UK. Fast forward to today, and his Model S has lost only about 65 miles of range. Considering it has traveled nearly the equivalent distance of a round trip to the moon, this seems relatively modest.

The Financial Upside

One of the significant perks of Curzon’s Model S 90D is its free unlimited Supercharging, which translates into annual savings estimated between £7,000 and £10,000 (roughly $8,942 to $12,700). Despite being charged to 100% at Supercharger stations nearly every day, the battery remains durable, a testament to Tesla’s engineering prowess.

Maintenance in Good Hands

Curzon’s high-mileage wonder has never undergone a traditional service. “This car has never actually physically had a service. It’s still on the original fluids. It has to be MOTed every six months, and anything that looks like it’s wearing out or about to go, you replace. So it’s preventative maintenance on that form,” Curzon explained.

Record-Holding Mavericks

It’s worth noting that there are other high-mileage Teslas that have racked up impressive distances. For instance, a 2014 Tesla Model S hit 1.2 million miles as of late February 2024. However, this vehicle is on its fourth battery pack and 13th electric motor. This comparison underscores the improvements and advancements that Tesla has integrated into the Model S over the years.

Curzon’s Model S 90D is more than just a taxi; it's a testament to the durability and long-term reliability of electric vehicles. Watch the video below to see AutoTrader’s detailed segment on this remarkable car.
