Mate Rimac's Custom Nevera: The Ultimate Supercar Dream Come True
Fifteen years after founding Rimac Automobili, Mate Rimac decided it was finally time to design his very own Nevera supercar. As it turns out, being the founder and CEO doesn't make the process any smoother—Mate himself admitted he might have been one of his company's most demanding customers. But after an extensive period of designing, iterating, and perfecting, the result is nothing short of spectacular.
A Symphony in Carbon Fiber
The standout feature of Mate's Nevera is its carbon fiber body, proudly displayed in its natural state. The fibers are meticulously aligned, flowing across neighboring panels to create a seamless and unbroken appearance. This was no easy task, demanding an extraordinary level of craftsmanship and patience. However, Mate didn't stop there; he decided to tint the carbon fiber with an elegant red, accentuating the finish with bare carbon fiber to add contrast. Custom red anodized badging further enhances the car’s bespoke appeal, making it a truly unique masterpiece.
Details That Make a Difference
Among the myriad of custom touches are hand-painted Croatian flags on the side mirrors—a nod to his homeland. But the pièce de résistance might very well be the hidden lightning motif under the rear spoiler. This motif represents the sudden, turbulent Mediterranean thunderstorms that inspired the Nevera's name, making it a car rich in both power and symbolism. Mate’s attention to detail is unerring, and it’s these little touches that make this vehicle unlike any other.
A Cabin Tailored to Perfection
The interior of Mate's Nevera is just as impressive as its exterior. He opted for an asymmetrical trim, black on one side and red on the other, lending a unique character to the cabin. This design choice isn't just visually striking but makes a statement on balancing opposites. Furthermore, the interior is adorned with custom, hand-stitched motifs visible on the armrests, headrests, and knee pads. One particular motif stands out: Solinjanka, inspired by a sculpture from Zagreb's Archeological Museum, offers an exquisite blend of art to the car.
Driving the Dream
Underneath all that artistry lies a beast of an electric vehicle. The Rimac Nevera is powered by four bespoke permanent-magnet, oil-cooled electric motors—one for each wheel. This setup churns out a staggering 1,914 horsepower and 1,740 pound-feet of torque. If those numbers aren't impressive enough, the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 1.75 seconds. And for those who dare, the Nevera boasts a top speed of 258 mph driving forward and 171.34 mph in reverse.
According to Mate, creating his own Nevera was a complex and emotional journey. He describes the process as a “crazy experience,” filled with idea sharing, evolving concepts, and finally, achieving perfection. The result is not just a car that looks incredible but one that also tells an important personal story for him.
