Ready or not, the Formula 1 world is about to see much more of Oliver Bearman. The young British phenom, backed by Ferrari, is set to make another FP1 appearance for Haas at the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. As many in the paddock have noted, Bearman is undoubtedly one of the most exciting prospects in the sport today.
A Stellar Debut
Bearman’s trajectory has been meteoric. He demonstrated his potential in dramatic fashion during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, stepping in for an unwell Carlos Sainz and thrilling fans with a points-scoring performance. Haas team boss Ayao Komatsu has been vocal about Bearman’s potential. “Of course we are evaluating him,” said Komatsu. “We wouldn’t be running him in FP1 if he wasn’t [under] consideration.” With four more FP1 sessions lined up for the season, Bearman’s stock within Haas couldn't be higher.

Given Bearman’s promising displays, talk is already swirling about his chances of securing a full-time seat for 2025. Haas has yet to confirm either of their drivers for next season, and with Hulkenberg heading to Kick Sauber and Kevin Magnussen undecided about extending his stay, the door is wide open for new talent.
Komatsu is clear about the qualities he seeks in a potential recruit. “We need someone experienced, with a strong work ethic who can integrate well with the team. We want someone who will push us forward.” Bearman, it seems, checks many of these boxes, making him a strong contender as Haas considers its future lineup.
With Haas currently holding seventh in the constructors’ standings, courtesy of top-10 finishes in Saudi Arabia, Australia, and China, the team is keen to improve. Securing dynamic talent like Bearman could be a step in the right direction.
