603bhp Beast: The New Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro is a Track Monster

Mercedes-Benz's AMG performance division has turned up the heat on its second-generation GT coupé with the stunning new GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ variant. Unveiled at last week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, this track-focused beast will make its way to UK buyers later this year, boasting a jaw-dropping 603bhp thanks to AMG’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine. That's a notable increase of 27bhp over the standard GT 63 4Matic+.

Not only is power on the rise, but torque has been increased by 37 lb-ft to a new peak of 627 lb-ft, courtesy of revised engine control software. This dynamo of a drivetrain is also paired with an advanced cooling system that features additional radiators at the front and active cooling through electrically operated water pumps for both the front and rear axles, ensuring optimal performance even under the most demanding conditions.

Mercedes-AMG claims eyebrow-raising acceleration figures: 0-60mph in just 3.2 seconds and 0-124mph in a blistering 10.9 seconds. These figures make the GT 63 Pro not only 0.5 seconds quicker to 124mph than its standard counterpart but also capable of hitting a top speed of 197mph, 1mph faster than the regular GT 63.

Tuned for the track, the Pro variant comes with a suite of aerodynamic enhancements, including a newly designed front bumper with enlarged cooling ducts. Combined with modifications designed to accelerate airflow underneath the car, these changes contribute to a 30kg reduction in aerodynamic lift on the front axle at top speed. A fixed rear wing further boosts downforce on the rear axle by approximately 15kg, enhancing stability and grip during high-speed maneuvers.

On the braking front, the GT 63 Pro is equipped with AMG’s ceramic-composite brake discs as standard, featuring massive 420mm discs with six-piston calipers at the front and 360mm discs with single-piston floating calipers at the rear. To ensure these brakes perform at their peak, the air guide vanes underneath the car and brake cover plates have been redesigned to funnel more cooling air directly to the brake system.

Adding to its track credentials, the Pro rides on matt grey 21-inch forged wheels paired with 295/30 ZR21 front and 305/30 ZR21 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires as standard, delivering exceptional grip and handling.
