Unleashing Speed: Inside McLaren's Thrilling Trophy Series Debut in 2025
McLaren, the race team that builds cars, is set to launch the McLaren Trophy America championship in 2025. This new racing series is tailored for amateur drivers and will feature ten races across five weekends. The series will offer flexibility to teams, allowing them to have a Pro-Am pairing, a solo amateur, or two amateurs.
The highlight of the championship will be the Artura Trophy race car. This GT4 car, liberated from regulatory constraints, boasts a powerful twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 577 horsepower. The vehicle's aggressive aerodynamics package enhances its performance, making it capable of clocking lap times close to GT3 race cars.
In addition to the Artura Trophy, participants can also compete in the 570S Trophy one-make racing series. Both cars will receive support from McLaren Customer Racing, ensuring access to replacement parts and technical assistance.
Exciting Features of the Series
- Mandatory pit stop for driver change during races
- Two 60-minute free practice sessions on Fridays
- 50-minute races on both Saturday and Sunday
- 15-minute qualifying session before each race
Race weekends will be live-streamed on the McLaren YouTube channel, promising a vibrant and engaging viewing experience. The series aims to maintain a relaxed and sociable paddock atmosphere while offering a Formula 1-inspired McLaren race center for drivers, sponsors, and team managers.
McLaren's Director of MSO and Motorsport, Mick McDonagh, expressed delight in introducing the McLaren Trophy America championship, emphasizing the brand's commitment to the diverse and vibrant motorsport culture in the US.
