"First of all, congrats to Mr. Russell. He’s been quick all weekend, so congrats to him and Mercedes. I'm happy with third."

"When it's so close, you always think, 'Could I have squeezed just a bit more out of the car?'" he reflected. Despite the 'what-ifs,' Norris is content with his team's efforts and excited about their prospects for the main event.

"That's Montreal, that's why we love it here," he explained. "It's one of the best places to come to every year. I love it. It’s why we’re all smiling, we’re having a good time."
The circuit's tricky conditions added an extra layer of excitement. "A lot of the time, you're thinking you might crash, but when you put a nice lap together and end up in the top three, it's always a nice feeling," said Norris.
On the potential for overtaking the two cars ahead, Norris didn’t miss a beat: "Yeah, two overtakes tomorrow! Easy, light work!" He then added more realistically, "No, I'm excited to see what we can do. The car has been great all season, especially the last three or four races, we've been on a good roll, but there are two very fast drivers ahead and plenty of fast drivers behind. We'll put on a good show tomorrow."
Oscar Piastri's Promising Performance
It was also a strong session for Oscar Piastri, who was just a fraction behind Norris and secured fourth place on the grid. When asked if he felt pole position was within reach, the Australian admitted: "Yeah, definitely a few places where I know there was time." He acknowledged the challenging conditions but remained positive about his position.
"Being so close and knowing there are places where I could have found time is frustrating, but in a session like that and if we're going to fight for championships, you need to be there when things don’t go your way," said Piastri.
Looking Ahead to Race Day
Both McLaren drivers are cautiously optimistic about the race. Despite fewer opportunities for extensive practice runs due to Friday's chaotic conditions, they are ready to adapt and give their best. Piastri commented on the lack of long-run data: "No-one knows how the tires will react in a race because the longest run anyone's done is like five laps. But we'll see, I think it should be an exciting race."
