Introducing the Rhode Island Commission: A name that carries the weight and elegance befitting the luxurious and opulent region it represents. This Jaguar E-Type restomod, crafted meticulously by Helm Motorcars, is the third jewel in a series of 20 bespoke vehicles. Each one is a unique masterpiece, tailored to individual specifications—making every car a stand-alone work of art.
Revamping a Classic
Helm Motorcars has unveiled the Rhode Island Commission, an exquisite Jaguar E-Type Series I restomod. This beauty is not just a showpiece; it features numerous upgrades to ensure that it’s as delightful to drive as it is to behold. Ohlins bespoke suspension enhances the ride, while performance tweaks make the vehicle more responsive and engaging. Although Helm remains tight-lipped about the engine specifics, past restomods have utilized a 300-horsepower 3.8-liter inline-six engine, promising a spirited drive.
Modern Meets Vintage
The craftsmanship extends well beyond the engine bay. The bodywork flaunts an advanced electrophoretic coating, ensuring both a pristine finish and enhanced corrosion resistance—a nod to modern durability that the original E-Types sorely lacked. The car’s Emerald Green paintwork, paired with delicate wire wheels and chrome trim, ensures that the Rhode Island Commission stands out in any setting.
Moreover, the interior is a testament to luxury and modern convenience. Collaborating with the Bill Amberg Studio, Helm has decked the cabin with Ochre-colored aniline European calf hide and European calf suede. This is complemented by bespoke aluminum trim and a custom matching luggage set, ensuring that every detail speaks of opulence. Modern amenities, such as front and rear parking sensors and a seven-speaker audio system featuring Bluetooth and Apple Airplay, integrate seamlessly with the car’s vintage appeal.
A New Standard in Automotive Luxury
The Rhode Island Commission isn’t just a car; it's a statement—a symbol of Helm Motorcars' commitment to blending timeless design with contemporary functionality. “The original E-Type was rather let down by its black plastic interior. The new interior is designed to match the promise of the exterior—such a classic car deserves a luxurious experience,” notes designer Bill Amberg. And he’s right; this restomod ensures that the E-Type's original charm is complemented by the luxuries today’s discerning drivers expect.
Scheduled to be showcased at the Newport Concours from October 3-6, this E-Type will undoubtedly be the star of the event. Helm’s founder, Chedeen Battick, remarks, “This creation continues our mission to embrace modern best practices in build and engineering, crafting the ultimate E-Type to meet today’s expectations.” With 17 more cars to go, we can only anticipate further marvels from Helm Motorcars.
