FIA's 2026 Formula 1 Regulations: The Revolutionary Changes Set to Transform the Sport

Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, has unveiled a game-changing set of regulations aimed at redefining the sport from 2026 and beyond. This sweeping overhaul promises to usher in a new era where agility, competitiveness, safety, and sustainability are front and center.

A More Agile and Exciting Formula

The new rules are designed to make cars lighter and more agile, enabling them to perform better on the track. These vehicles will weigh 30kg less, which will significantly enhance their nimbleness, allowing for more thrilling, on-track battles. Power Unit Overhaul

One of the most critical changes involves the power units. From 2026, Formula 1 cars will be powered by redesigned engines that feature an even split between internal combustion and electric power. The use of 100% sustainable fuels will be mandatory, making the sport more eco-friendly. The battery power will see a dramatic increase, from 120kw to a whopping 350kw, almost tripling the current electric power capacity.
