This time, the sparks flew at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, where a fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro took on a third-generation Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Although ImportRace usually takes place at Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey, the videographer has expanded his reach significantly. Over the past few months, he’s captured events at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida, the Pocono Raceway, and Maryland International Raceway. ImportRace also delved into the epic TX2K events at Texas Motorplex, and revisited the spot for this unforgettable Chevrolet vs. Dodge clash.
A Clash of Titans
This match-up wasn’t just any ordinary drag race. It pitted a non-ZL1 variant of the Chevrolet Camaro from model years 2010 to 2015 against the iconic Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. What made this race especially tantalizing was the stark contrast between the two muscle cars—an orange Camaro and a green Challenger, each adorned with parachutes that screamed, “We're not here to mess around.”
Given that both vehicles have ceased production as of last December, the race had a sense of finality, making every second on the quarter-mile track feel like history in the making. These aren’t just cars; they’re symbols of a bygone era, brought back to life for one last hurrah.
The Race Unfolds
From the very start, it was clear that this was more than just a race; it was a spectacle. The Camaro tucked its back low and raised its nose in defiance, looking every bit the rebel ready to take on the might of Mopar. Meanwhile, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, with its “SRT CAT” front license plate, hinted at something more under the hood—turns out, it was nitrous-fed!
