Chris Harris Turns Heads with His Rare BMW M5 Touring E61 at the Track - You Won't Believe What Happened Next!
Renowned automotive enthusiast and presenter, Chris Harris, is well-known for his love of BMWs. Among his collection of Bavarian cars is the newly acquired rare M5 Touring E61, a limited-production model of which only 1,009 were ever made. This specific M5, finished in striking Indianapolis Red and boasting around 128,000 miles on the odometer, showcases both elegance and performance despite its age.
Having spent £24,750 on this V10-powered M5 estate, Harris embarked on refreshing the vehicle, addressing key components such as tires, brakes, and the possibility of a clutch replacement. The highlight of this M5 Touring is its impeccably maintained naturally aspirated 5.0-liter engine, delivering a staggering 500 horsepower.
Originally a press car, this lavishly equipped M5 Touring was previously driven by Harris himself during its days as a test vehicle provided to automotive journalists. Despite contemplations of modifying the transmission setup, Harris has decided to retain the seven-speed Sequential M Gearbox. However, minor tweaks to the shift paddles are on the agenda to align with Harris' preferences for aesthetics and functionality.
Following a recent breakdown due to a faulty gearbox, Harris plans to restore the M5 Touring to its former glory. Teasing an upcoming project with the vehicle, Harris keeps enthusiasts intrigued about the future of this extraordinary estate.
