Alpina Unleashes Next-Level B3 GT and B4 GT In Final Hurrah Before BMW Takeover

Alpina has made an audacious move by unveiling the hardcore GT versions of its beloved B3, B3 Touring, and B4 Gran Coupé. The timing is no coincidence as BMW prepares to take over the reins of the Buchloe-based performance firm next year.
Enhanced Power and Performance
Designed with a focus on higher performance and aerodynamic precision, these new GT models are ready to conquer the roads. Scheduled for a November release in Germany and expected to hit the UK by early 2025, these cars are set to make a big splash. Both the B3 and B4 GTs will feature the already impressive twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six petrol engine. However, this powerhouse now delivers a peak of 522bhp – a healthy 33bhp increase over the standard models, achieved higher in the rev range at 6250rpm to 6500rpm.
While the torque remains consistent at an impressive 538lb ft, it is channeled effectively to all four wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. The increased power translates to performance gains across the board, with each model shaving 0.2 seconds off its 0-62mph time. Notably, the B3 GT saloon now sprints from 0-62mph in a blistering 3.4 seconds and achieves a top speed of 191mph, eclipsing the previous model's performance by 2mph.
Chassis and Handling Upgrades
Alpina has meticulously re-engineered the chassis to enhance both handling and ride comfort. This includes stiffer damper mounts and a reinforced bulkhead for more precise steering. Additionally, a thicker rear anti-roll bar has been introduced to complement these changes. Spring rates have also been recalibrated, ensuring that drivers enjoy a ride that is both dynamic and comfortable.
The B4 GT coupé receives specialized treatment with further enhancements to its anti-roll bars, alongside recalibration of the steering, dampers, four-wheel-drive system, and limited-slip differential. These changes collectively ensure that the B4 GT stands out both in terms of performance and driving experience.
Final Curtain Call
This move by Alpina is more than just releasing upgraded models; it is a statement of intent and craftsmanship. As the brand transitions under BMW's ownership, the B3 and B4 GTs serve as a spectacular farewell from the Buchloe team's legacy of engineering excellence and high-performance luxury. Car enthusiasts and collectors alike will undoubtedly see these models as valuable milestones, marking the end of an era while also celebrating a future under new stewardship.

With such significant performance and handling upgrades, the GT variants of the B3 and B4 are poised to leave a mark. As anticipation builds for their release, it’s clear that Alpina's final chapter as an independent entity will be one of high performance and sheer driving pleasure.
