Say Goodbye to Gas: Last Call for Alfa Romeo's Quadrifoglio Super Sport Models

In a monumental send-off, Alfa Romeo has officially unveiled the final Super Sport versions of their Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio. This marks the end of an era as these high-performance models wrap up their impressive run in the U.S.

Exclusivity is the name of the game here, with just 72 units of the Giulia Quadrifoglio Super Sport and 52 units of the Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sport making their way to American soil. Priced at $88,365 for the sedan and $95,965 for the SUV, these special editions come with a $1,595 destination charge included.

Earlier this year, Alfa Romeo's North American head, Larry Dominique, confirmed the discontinuation of the Quadrifoglio models in the United States. However, enthusiasts need not despair; these models will make a return, powered by future tech rather than traditional combustion engines.

“While we look forward to the future of the four-leaf clover with the amazing performance benefits of electrification, the twin-turbo V-6 Super Sport is a fitting final chapter to the combustion-engine Quadrifoglio,” Dominique eloquently stated.

These final editions don't skimp on the luxury or performance. Notable exterior touches include a blacked-out Quadrifoglio badge, carbon-fiber side mirror caps, and black Brembo calipers. The wheels also receive a dark finish, while the Giulia model can be enhanced with a carbon-fiber roof.

The interior is equally lavish. Expect to find red-tinted carbon fiber on the instrument panel, center console, and door linings, as well as a “Super Sport” script elegantly embroidered into the headrests. The steering wheel is a posh mix of leather and Alcantara with additional carbon-fiber accents.

The true magic lies under the hood. Both models are powered by a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 engine producing a hefty 505 hp. Enhanced by an 8-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, adaptive suspension, and a mechanical limited-slip differential, these vehicles share DNA with the hardcore Giulia GTA. The Giulia can hit a top speed of 191 mph, while the Stelvio maxes out at 176 mph.

Both models are currently available for order, with deliveries kicking off in the fall. Despite Alfa Romeo's electric future, there's still a commitment to providing gas engines, either standalone or in hybrid setups. Successors to the Giulia and Stelvio are already in development and will utilize Stellantis' versatile STLA Large platform, first seen in the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona. Expect the new Stelvio next year and the revamped Giulia a year afterward.
