2025 Audi e-tron GT: A Jaw-Dropping Performance and Design Revolution
The 2025 Audi e-tron GT is here, and it’s bringing a storm of updates that make it one of the most enticing electric sports sedans yet. This isn't just a superficial refresh; Audi has delved deep into the very core of the model to deliver a machine that stands toe-to-toe with its fiercest rivals, like the Porsche Taycan. Audi enthusiasts and EV aficionados alike have much to celebrate with changes that extend beyond sleek new looks to substantive upgrades in performance and technology.
E-tron's Eye-Catching New Look
The 2025 e-tron GT’s visual appeal has been kicked up a notch. Sporting new grille designs and a two-dimensional version of Audi's iconic four-ring logo, the car boasts refreshed facial features that are sure to turn heads. The entry-level S model features a refined black-trimmed grille, while the RS variants are adorned with wider side air intakes and distinctive 'L-shaped' elements. As part of the refresh, the e-tron GT now offers various wheel designs, including stunning new multispoke 20-inchers and forged 12-spoke wheels for the RS models, inspired by the 1991 Avus Quattro concept. A new color, Bedford Green, makes its debut, exclusively available with a matte carbon roof featuring unique 'carbon camouflage' elements—an Audi first.
Inside: Sophisticated and Smart
The cabin receives subtle yet meaningful upgrades. The digital gauge cluster, known as Virtual Cockpit, now presents more detailed EV-specific information, including battery status, temperature, and real-time charging rates. RS models get trim-specific content, with the Performance model's display featuring a selectable white background, paying homage to the 1994 Audi RS2 Avant’s white analog gauges. Additionally, a newly available panoramic sunroof can switch between clear and opaque modes at the touch of a button. The interior maintains its familiar layout but adds new squared-off steering wheels and restyled seats with fresh patterns and illuminated logos in the seatbacks. New trim pieces like birch and carbon camouflage further enhance the luxury cabin experience.
Powertrain Overhaul: Battery, Motors, and Efficiency
Under the hood, or rather, under the chassis, the 2025 e-tron GT receives a series of powertrain updates that redefine performance. The addition of a new rear-mounted motor, incorporating elements from Audi’s PPE platform, brings several advantages. The rear e-motor is not only about 22 pounds lighter but also more efficient and powerful. The base e-tron GT, now badged as the S, offers an astonishing 671 horsepower—eclipsing the previous top-of-the-line RS e-tron GT's 637 hp. The new RS models boast a jaw-dropping 845 horsepower, and the all-new RS e-tron GT Performance variant peaks at 912 horsepower when the overboost function is activated for up to 10 seconds. This Performance variant is hailed as Audi’s 'first fully electric RS model' despite bearing the RS badge previously.
The battery pack also sees significant improvements. The new pack is lighter by approximately 22 pounds and larger, with its net capacity increasing from 83.7 kWh to 97.0 kWh. Audi credits this to advancements in the battery’s cooling system. Charging speeds have also been enhanced, with the peak DC fast-charging rate rising from 270 to 320 kilowatts, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. For those sticking to Level 2 connections, an optional 22.0-kW onboard charger is available.
Enhanced Chassis and Braking Systems
Braking and handling receive due attention as well. The entire e-tron GT line now comes standard with larger steel brake discs, while the RS variants can be equipped with optional tungsten carbide-coated brake calipers. For drivers keen on track performance, Audi offers carbon-ceramic rotors with 10-piston front calipers across the lineup. The regenerative braking capabilities are significantly improved, now able to recuperate up to 400 kW—an increase from the previous 290 kW. This system can be adjusted manually across three levels or left on automatic.
Audi has incorporated a redesigned air suspension system with two adjustable settings to elevate the driving experience. An optional 'active' suspension can manage each wheel independently for enhanced control. Furthermore, the four-wheel-steering system has been refined, now allowing the rear wheels to turn up to 2.8 degrees and featuring a more direct front-axle ratio.
As of now, these updates apply to the European version of the e-tron GT, which is already available. Details specific to the U.S. market, including range estimates and pricing, are expected to be revealed in the coming months. The outgoing 2024 Audi e-tron GT started at $107,995, with the RS model priced from $148,595.
